Frequently Asked Questions
We understand that applying for a course is not necessarily an easy decision and completing the application can involve a certain amount of work. For this reason we try to make the process as easy as possible for both us and you.
Please complete all application forms in Adobe Reader.
The form is designed to be pulled in to our database and in our experience it breaks in some way shape or form when viewed and completed in a PDF reader other than Adobe.
Absolutely! Unfortunately, printed forms are no good to us whatsoever as all your information will be stored digitally. We understand, that for some people it might seem more natural to fill in a printed form but since the whole course is designed to be completed on a computer (we don’t accept handwritten assignments) then a digital application form is simply in keeping with the character of the rest of the course.
Our courses have both a September intake and a January intake. You are welcome to apply for either intake at any time, however since the application process varies from person to person applications submitted within one month of the start date of the course cannot be guaranteed to be completed in time.
This is largely down to you and your situation, in order to complete your application we need your application form, various supporting documents and an interview with somebody from your local campus. The sooner you get these things done, the sooner we can put you through to our admissions board and hopefully offer you a place.
You can join an undergraduate course at the age of 18 through either the education or mature entry route. To join our MA course you must be at least 23 years old as ideally you should have some sort of experience.
If you are a British citizen or you are in the country on certain VISAs then this may not matter. Otherwise we will need to see evidence that you can cope with academic english in the form of some sort of certificate. Our requirements in this case would be an IELTS level 6.0 for the BA and 6.5 for the MA or equivalent. Please get in touch with us if you are unsure or require more information.
You can find more information about IELTS from their website: www.ielts.org/test_takers_information.aspx
We love to give access to education to as many people as possible, and if you don’t meet the educational qualification criteria then we have access routes that may allow you to join or transfer to an accredited course. We expect students on all our courses to have some experience in ministry and leadership, and a desire to be further developed and formed.
Unfortunately we cannot take your previous education into consideration without seeing copies of your certificates. If you do not have your certificates then you can come on to the programme as a mature student which will require you to complete an Individual Student Evaluation.
There are a number of ways you can spread your fees over the year(s), find out all about our fees here.
If you plan to study the BA (Hons) Theology and Mission and are eligible for student finance from the UK Student Loans Company, you are advised to apply early in order to give time for your student loan to be processed (you can apply before being accepted onto our course).
At the time of full application Springdale College asks for details of any access requirements, in order to support your needs and make learning accessible. They do not affect the academic assessment of your application, but form part of a confidential student record.
An Interview is required as part of the application process, for the BA this is an interview at your local campus, but for the MA this is often conducted over the phone or skype. The interview is slightly informal and is a chance for us to get to know you a bit better, but also a chance for you to get to know us a bit better.
Springdale College has locations all around the country, which means not all the staff meet all the students face-to-face. An ID photo is nice for us to have, and it gives you a Student ID card- hello discounts!
Please send us a digital photograph via email, it needs to be a good quality picture of just you preferably on a clear background in one of the major image formats (BMP, JPG, PNG, PDF, etc.).
Talk to us! We’d love to help. You can also look at the locations page to book in a visit to meet staff and students. We can also send out sample course material on request.
We can help with this too! Some of our campuses have placements ready and waiting for students. We are happy to work with our networks and to find a place for you.
