Mission is ForMission’s beating heart. The core of our motivation is to build up the church so that the Kingdom is extended.
Formerly known as Springdale, ForMission college started life in 1980 as a mission college in Selly Oak, Birmingham, where prominent missionary Lesslie Newbigin taught in his last years of active ministry.
In 2009 Springdale College joined Together in Mission to become a mission agency; with practical courses accredited by York St John
University, for students from a wide range of denominations and networks.
As an organisation, we pursue mission in three key areas:
Alongside our BA and MA programmes, ForMission College also offers a range of practical courses that can often be delivered in the local church.
Many of our students start out on these courses before moving on to the BA or MA programme. We are proud that for many of our students, ForMission College is their first opportunity to study at this level.
We support people and churches to achieve their vision to be missional in their local community. As a missional organisation, our key values are to be Relational, Innovative, Quality and Practical in the way that we equip Leaders.
Our partnerships help us to support our students in finding meaningful placements as part of their course. As a networking community, we are often delighted to continue this connection with our students beyond graduation.
Alongside our academic programmes, our networking events and think tank community draw together the most innovative and inspiring leaders of this generation.
We believe an understanding of Missio Dei is essential to revive the church. We work with leaders of missional excellence around the world to learn and develop the most impactful way of doing mission in the 21st century.
