ForMission Impact New Wine Festival
New Wine is a movement of churches working together to change the nation through a network of church leaders. This year our very own Dr. Ash Barker had the great privilege to lead the bible studies each morning in the ‘Impact arena’ at the New Wine Festival. He spoke to a packed house of 1,500 people, each session engaged the missional themes of the Compassionate Samaritan and were inspired by stories of the Barker’s experiences in Melbourne, Bangkok and now Birmingham. Do have a look at Ash Barker’s forthcoming Speaking Engagements in 2015. The Impact Arena at New Wine is especially set up for people working in urban priority areas, inner cities and estates and was a perfect venue for Ash who is developing our new MA in Urban Mission. The Programme focuses on Christian discipleship within the urban context with the rise of global urbanisation, competing ambitions for city’s future and the desire for Urban shalom.
Dr. Ash Barker is also founding Director of The Newbigin Centre The new centre launched by ForMission focuses on the rising challenges of urban poverty and mission. It aims to mobilise, form and equip Christian leaders for our new urban world. Also available is Ash Barker’s latest book ‘Risky Compassion’ which became the No.1 book for mission on Amazon last weekend.
